I live in the Pacific NW and have always wanted take my family on a two week road trip exploring up into Canada and through some of our historic parks like Yellowstone. While we have a nice min-van spending that many hours in a car could be a challenge. That is why looking into RV rentals is a great solution. Many of the new RV’s come in all different sizes and come with just basic sleeping and living areas or more advanced where you can comfortably sleep 5-6 people and even have access to wi-fi and on board TV. At companies like CanaDream they understand the comforts of traveling with a family and even offer iPad rentals, online trip planning tools, and all fees and insurance included so all you have to do is decide where you are going to go and then just enjoy the trip.

Rhett & Link: Commercial Kings on IFC
The YouTube Sensations known as Rhett and Link have taken a new step up in their advertising and promotional efforts. For the past 5 years or so, these two residents of California, have been making local advertisements online at YouTube. They have did some really cool-looking commercials in their day and it is a treat to watch some of their ads online.
The You Tube Sensations couldn’t be held back though. Now they have recently accepted a new gig on the Independent Film Channel or IFC. If you have the TV channel IFC, you can watch Rhett and Link: Commercial Kings every Friday at 10 pm local time. If this time is no good for you, just turn over to the IFC channel on television and you will have a good chance of seeing a replay of one of their funny and creative TV shows. I just went through my channel guide for 1 week and noticed the Commercial Kings will be coming on a total of 17 times, over the next 7 days! That should tell you a little bit about how popular these two guys are.
If you tune-in to watch one of their 30 minute TV shows on the Independent Film Channel, you can expect to laugh a lot. Also, be prepared to see some advertising geniuses at work. You will watch the show for 25 minutes and think these two nuts don’t have a lick of sense between the two of them. Then they show one of their amazing TV commercials to the client and suddenly you understand why they did what they did. I believe each show I have seen so far, has been unique and always ends with a job well done. I haven’t seen a customer yet, who doesn’t like the TV commercial by Rhett & Link.
Have you watched the Rhett & Link TV Program yet? If so, please reply with your comments about this new and unique show. It was on June 24th, when they made the jump from YouTube to the big screen, we know as TV. None of their online fans should be disappointed, cause they did recently announce, they will continue to upload great videos online over at You Tube. If you get some free time, check these guys out at YouTube or just watch their new television show on the IFC channel.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Spoiler alert!!! The seventh and final book in the “Harry Potter” series was phenomenal. I couldn’t believe the way that it ended, but I’ll get to that in a bit. J.K. Rowling really outdid herself on the final book. I’ve listened to all seven books on tape several times and love them all. I couldn’t wait to see what happened in the final book, just because I wanted to see if any of my predictions came true. I don’t think that any of them did. I thought that when Dumbledore was killed in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” by professor Snape, that Dumbledore was really Wormtail using polyjuice potion because of the damaged right hand. In “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” Lord Voldemort gave Wormtail a magical right hand to replace the one that Wormtail himself cut off in order to give the dark lord a body. I also thought that Harry would end up Headmaster at Hogwarts school. It didn’t happen. The journey in this book is full of adventure, of course being the last in the series, it should be. There were so many questions to be answered in order to wrap the whole thing up, like why did Dumbledore trust Snape? What and where were all the horcruxes? How can Harry destroy them once he does find them? Turns out that objects with destructive power with no real magical remedies is what destroys them. The basilisk’s fang that destroyed Riddle’s diary contained venom with only one cure, phoenix tears. Another horcrux ended up being Marvolo’s ring which was destroyed by Dumbledore, leaving a horrible curse upon him. The others were Hufflepuff’s locket, Ravenclaw’s Lost Diadem, Nagini the snake, and surprisingly enough, Harry himself. At the end of the book I was astounded at Snape’s memories. Dumbledore trusted Snape because of his love for Lily Evans, later Lily Potter, Harry’s mom. Once Voldemort would not spare her life, Snape went to Dumbledore for help. Ever since that day, Snape acted as a double-agent protecting Harry and working towards the downfall of the dark lord. In the epilogue, nineteen years after the downfall of Voldemort, the book tells of Harry married to Ginny Weasley and one of their children is named Albus Severus Potter. It was quite the surprise. I left out a lot of other surprises so as not to spoil everything. Overall the entire tale is excellent and should be read by everyone who likes epic stories.
The Dark Tower Comics from Marvel
The final issue is finally out. Stephen King’s “The Gunslinger Born” from Marvel comics wrapped up it’s seventh issue which concludes the “Dark Tower” comic series. The comic is adapted from the seven novels by the best-selling author. I have read all seven more than once and the comics stay true to the books. Peter David does a great job in telling the story and has captured “the low speech” quite well. In the first issue it showed a few notes from Stephen King on how best to capture this alternate way of speech. The illustrations by Jae Lee and Richard Isanove are beautiful. It’s good to finally see the face of some of my favorite characters. Roland of Gilead definately looks different than I imagined him. In the books he is described as looking a bit like Clint Eastwood, but that is when he is an older man. The comics tell the story of his younger trials where he becomes a gunslinger, which is kind of like a knight in a world that has “moved on”. There are also side stories that weren’t in the books that are very interesting. One is the origins of “Charyou tree”, which tells of the burning sacrifices of townspeople in order to bring in a good harvest. Another is a tale of “Maerlin’s Mirror”, which is about an ancient mirror that gets broken and the shards fly throughout the worlds, bringing magick to those who come in contact with them. The comic is set in the time that is most touched upon in “Wizard and Glass”, the fourth in the “Dark Tower” novels. I must say that as soon as I finished the last issue, there was a satified smile on my face, not only because the story was great, but also because on the last page it tells of a new five part series, also from the “Dark Tower”, called “The Long Road Home”, that comes out in February 2008. I can’t wait.
Hollywood Movie: Before Sunrise
A movie that has been out for a long time now, but I think it’s worth going back and talking about it some. For all the romantics out there looking for a good movie to see, you might want to check out Before Sunrise. This is not a new movie and has been out for awhile. It came out in the mid 90′s and tells a great love story of an American and a European; that meet on a train one night and they spend the whole night getting to know each other. While they roam the streets in Vienna, they both know that their time together is limited. So with each one of them knowing that they will never see each other again; they slowly tell more about them selves, than they normally would. For anyone that is in the romantic spirit and is looking for a good clean movie that has a great plot, this 1995 film by Richard Linklater is a good one to see.
The story doesn’t quite end right here and maybe it does leave us hanging just a bit. Any fans that like this movie are in luck, because the story doesn’t end on the movie Before Sunrise. Another sequel would follow this movie and it picks up 9 years later with this American and European love story.
Have you ever seen Before Sunrise or Before Sunset? Do you have any thoughts or opinions on these two great romantic movies? Overall I did enjoy watching both of these movies and it’s a neat way on how they brought the 2nd movie in, so far down the road. In the movie, it is 9 years later, when the 2nd movie starts up. Well in real life, it was also 9 years. So the movie does mimic real life. It was good the movie producers and movie directors could get in touch with all of the main characters and bring them in for the taping of the 2nd part. I wouldn’t be surprise if this sets a Hollywood trend and other big name directors and movie produces will follow this same accord.
Clint Eastwood as Superman?
Legendary actor Clint Eastwood recently let a little Hollywood secret slip out. It turns out, the actor at one time was given the opportunity of playing the Man of Steel, but turned it down. That’s right, if Clint Eastwood didn’t pass up the role many years ago, we would know Superman as Clint Eastwood and not Clark Kent. I guess its a good thing the talented actor named Clark Kent got this role. I just think Clark sounds a little better than Clint, as the super human who is flying around the World and saving us from all the bad guys and tragic events that commonly take place on our little planet Earth.
Did you know that Clint Eastwood could have also played Sean Connery’s role as 007? Yep, according to the aging actor, he also went on to state, he could have been James Bond and Superman. I’m not sure if Eastwood regrets not taking these roles, since now we can see both were huge success stories in the Hollywood film world. I know most of us have a hard time picturing Dirty Harry wearing tights in Superman or having to talk in a British accent, if he would have took the James Bond role many moons ago. I ran across this story on Yahoo today and thought it was pretty interesting.
Billiards For Family Fun
Get the whole family involved in playing billiards and see how much fun you can have. I always loved the family reunions that were at a house with a pool table. All of my cousins, uncles, and aunts would grab the pool cues and shoot for hours. It was the center of attention for our family reunions.
Now it doesn’t take much to have all of this fun and maybe you could host the next family reunion for your relatives? The room is the important part for getting a new pool table. It’s best when you have a full room you can devote to the table or a basement to stick it in. Be sure you check around the edges of the table and make sure you can bring your stick back, before deciding on your final position of the table in your room. I have shot on many tables that a post or a wall would cause us to shoot in an unorthodox manner. If you have only one place that’s like that and it’s your only choice to put your table at, then just set it up there. Some of your best memories will come from that area where you have to jack-up your stick or shoot from your normal form. Each time you bring a new person to shoot at your table, it will be a laugh waiting to happen when they have to face that post or wall for the first time!
If you have the room and your table, just buy a few cheap pool cues for your guests and you can buy 1 really nice one for yourself to play with. A set of balls and get a few pieces of chalk, so your family and guests can cue up their sticks and your all set for a fun time around the table!
Billiards isn’t just a game for a crowd or two people either. It’s a great way to pass the time and you can play against yourself or maybe work on some trick shots you can show your friends and family, for when they do decide to come around.
Aptara.com Review: Using Aptara for your content distribution
In just a few short months we have seen the enormous impact that the iPad has had on electronic distribution of books and digital content. We purchased an iPad along with the other 2 million consumers that have done so to date and have to say it is a great tool. To share in the impact of the iPad many of its competitors from Amazon to Barns and Noble are making many of their books and apps available to those who use the iPad by providing cross platform utilization available for their electronic content. For companies and publishers that have been developing eBooks to as a form of content distribution you now have to be able to push your information out through multiple channels.
This is where companies like Aptara are ahead of everyone. Not only do they offer editorial services but also publishing and distribution of your digital content. They are able to help in the transformation of your content permitting it to be accessible to the mass of consumers. As is discussed in one of their many informative writings the eBook must evolve from simply a static format to one that will allow readers to link out to web pages. bookmark, annotate and more. Because there are over 225,000 apps, as of this writing, companies looking to get their content to readers through apps can be a challenge. Even universities and schools are looking to incorporate the iPad into the learning environment to help their students and staff interact through a digital platform.
Aptara has the tools, and right now, to help provide solutions for digital publishing and distribute your content through multiple channels while providing a cost effective solution for you and your company. Many businesses from magazines, gaming sites, to pharmaceutical distributors need to be able to communicate with their customers and provide them with a personal experience while they are gaining knowledge of the content of their company or products. While eBooks are fairly simple to produce and more cost effective than an app the demand for more enriched content will only push companies and publishers to stay up with the current trends; that is if they hope to be downloaded to their customers devices and for this to support sales.
Aptara has the strategies, methods and technology for developing enhanced eBooks based on the ePUB standard using HTML5. With their document conversion solutions they can help you get your media ready faster which means better overall customer retention and engagement. Jeter Leaves Florida Still Hot
The New York Yankees looked good in spring training as they were preparing for the 2010 MLB season from Florida. After packing up their bags and heading north to the Big Apple, their shortstop Derek Jeter probably had little trouble finding a New York moving company to help assist him with the move. Especially now since the season is underway and the Yanks all star shortstop hasn’t came close to slowing down yet. His last game played he had a nice 3 hit day as the Yankees beat the Rangers on April 17th. The 4 games prior to this, Jeter had 2 hits in each of these games, giving him a 5 game hitting streak with multi-hits in each one. It’s impressive enough to have a 5 game hitting streak, but when a professional baseball player can do this streak in multi-hit fashion, it only adds to the arsenal of weapons this NY Yankee team can bring to the ballpark on any given day in Major League Baseball.
If anyone wants to question the 22.6 million dollars Derek Jeter will make this year. Just compare his numbers to other salaries in this range and see why this might be a bargain, in terms of MLB standards. I’m sure most if not all of the movers would be more than happy to assist Jeter with any moving troubles he may be having; while trying to get comfortable with living in New York City. As opposed to the warm weather his prior living arrangements were in the spring training complex; that houses the Yankees baseball team near Tampa Bay each year. Yes, Derek Jeter was already the toast of the town in New York, but after watching his fast start at the plate in the 2010 year, it’s time to start looking for the keys to the city and making sure this talented shortstop has an extra set.
The only people that could possibly oppose an award or show of gratitude for Derek Jeter, may be the cross town team and fans that root for the New York Mets baseball team. I think the rest of the country may finally have an interest in the Subway Series this year, so they can tune-in to watch number 2 swing this hot bat he’s currently displaying against opposing MLB pitchers.
Rob Zombie movies
I got “The Devil’s Rejects” on DVD a while back. It is one of my favorite movies of all time. The dialogue is hilarious and quite disturbing at times. There is also the overwhelming seventies feel to it. Anyone alive back then knows how dirty the seventies were. Rob certainly captured that essence in this movie. “The Devil’s Rejects” is a sequel to the movie “House of 1000 Corpses”. “House” doesn’t quite have the same seventies feel. It has more of a grotesque feel to it. “Rejects” kicks in hard from the very beginning with an insane shootout with the police, where the family dons steel plates on their faces and bodies as bullet-proof shields. It was really intense. R.J., the older brother gets killed and his mom, Mother Firefly, gets arrested while Otis and Baby escape and join up with their father Captain Spalding, the psychotic clown. All their names are aliases from Marx Brothers movies. The most disturbing scene is when Otis and Baby take the traveling country band “Banjo and Sullivan” hostage. The physical abuse pales in comparison to the verbal abuse that Otis lashes out. The soundtrack is truly awesome. Rob includes songs like “Midnight rider”, “Fooled around and fell in love”, and “Free Bird” which strangely set a foul mood. Every time I hear these songs now, they have a different meaning for me. “Free Bird” is the song for, I guess what you would call, the second climax. It makes you feel sad for the sadistic killers. Overall “The Devil’s Rejects” is a movie for the ages, that is if you like that sort of thing. It rates up there with “A Clockwork Orange”, and “Natural Born Killers”. I don’t recommend that children watch it. There are some pretty rough moments in there. Moms and dads however, will remember it for years to come.
Let’s go to the Rodeo
Hailing from the great state of Texas I have been to almost every type of rodeo from small towns to the big cities. In Coleman, TX I actually participated in the rodeo when I was younger, and took first place in a goat roping contest. The largest rodeo I have ever attended was RodeoHouston. There were so many people it was amazing, since I had been accustomed to the smaller out arenas where you knew the clowns. The year we went we stayed for two days and actually saw George Strait in concert.
It was a great time and our seats were actually on the second level, but we were able to get on the rodeo floor since my aunt was associated with the local Rodeo association. She raises cutting horses for barrel racing and even knew some of the contestants
The horse show where they bring in various Appaloosas, Arabian, and Palomino horses is great, as you get see some of the best trained horses in the country. Getting Houston Rodeo Tickets was a special treat for my family as we lived out in west Texas, and never had been able to attend such a spectacular event. They Houston Rodeo is noted as being the largest rodeo in the world, which I can believe. I also found it amazing how they were able to turn the stadium into this bull riding, barrel racing stage.
Burn notice
I’ve been watching “Burn Notice” and I love it. It’s only been on for a little over a month and I’m already addicted. The main character is Michael Westen, played by Jeffrey Donovan, is a spy who gets burned, meaning fired, by his employers the U.S. government. He gets dumped in Miami where his mother, best friend, and girlfriend live. Sam, played by Bruce Campbell of “Evil Dead” fame, is the alcoholic, ex-spy best friend who still has connections in the espionage underworld. He drinks like a fish, but still gets the job done. Michael is trying to find out who burned him, and I think that Sam is going to play a big part in helping him get the information that he needs. Michael’s girlfriend Fiona, played by Gabrielle Anwar, is an ex-IRA soldier who loves to break out the guns as much as possible. She is constantly kicking somebody’s butt, often it is Michael’s. Sharon Gless of “Cagney and Lacey” plays Michael’s mother, who is always getting into his business and love life. Michael is pretty much broke since getting burned left him with no bank account, or job references. Now he has to do freelance jobs using his spy background. Each episode he shows how to manipulate people, tricks of the trade, and he gets a little closer to finding out who burned him. This is one show that I’m going to have to see through to the very end.
