A very interesting medical show recently appeared on the History International Channel. It talked about how the brain was the most complex thing in our Universe. How much power does our brains have now? How powerful will our brains be in the future? There are a lot of unanswered questions, when it comes to the human brain.
One of the things I found most interesting, was the power our brains have to control other physical objects, without us ever touching them. A test was conducted on a monkey and the monkey was able to talk to a mechanical arm, through its brain waves, so it could reach food that was located out of its reach. This type of modern technology is intended for people who suffer bad accidents or they are born paralyzed at birth. These handicap people and the ones who are disabled now, could actually use their brain power to control some of these mechanical arms and legs. Only steal or other metal-like materials are used to make these artificial human limbs; which the human mind can operate. It’s really a fascinating subject and offers a lot of hope to those people who are disabled now and don’t have control over their own arms and legs.
Another History International program called Brad Meltzer’s Decoded briefly talked about this subject and this modern technology that is currently available now. While investigating the Georgia Guide Stonesin Elberton, Georgia, the show’s crew made a trip to the center of Atlanta, Georgia; where the Georgia Tech University is located. The teachers and Tech Students are working on this technology and conducting tests to see how much power our minds really have. One of the crew members even gave it a test try and was able to move a mechanical arm with his mind. The Georgia Tech Teacher said that only 20% of the human population could achieve that on their first attempt. So it was an interesting topic that was placed on the side of their main topic, which was investigating the history and the purpose for the Georgia Guidestones in Eastern, GA.
The program on the brain ended on a really far-fetched idea. Some believe it would be possible for the mind to work with the World Wide Web, so we wouldn’t even have to click our mouse. Can you believe that? They even showed a brief example of how this might really work in real life.
A man was placed in front of a computer, where he was asked to locate all of the helipads (a big letter “H” on top of a building for helicopters to land) over a city in Asia. His mind focused on all of the buildings that featured the big “H” on top of the building. His brain was storing this information. Then a series of pictures over the same Asian city flashed very quickly on the computer screen. The man was asked to click a button, each time he saw one of the helipad buildings in the fast display of pictures that were blinking across the computer screen. He was able to make the correct clicks; while he observed these photos in rapid motion. This type of modern technology could be used for military purposes, but it could also be used for people who like to travel. If you know you was visiting New Orleans, Louisiana; you could basically download this information in your mind, then you wouldn’t need a map, when you reached the city of New Orleans.
