Cell Phones Will Never Replace the Time on our Wrist Watches

Men and Women’s watches come in a variety of different styles, colors, and shapes. Some tell time with their hands; while others have it digitally displayed. While looking online at Blue Dial and seeing all the great Citizen Eco drive watches they currently have available, it got me to thinking. About how our watches offer a valuable service to us daily. Knowing the exact time, at certain times of the day, is really important for me. However, most folks have a cell phone and they offer the time too. Not only the time, but you also have a lot of other modern features on a mobile phone; which a wrist watch has never been able to provide. So its fair to say, that cell phones can offer certain benefits, which a time piece couldn’t do or hasn’t done yet.

Watches the Perfect Gift?

More than likely, you have given or received a watch as a gift during your lifetime (if not both). I have a few good memories about the watches I got as gifts, but the most memorable gift story I have, is with me giving one away. It was a pretty plain-looking watch and didn’t have a lot of flash to it, but for some reason it caught my eye. I was shopping for an old girlfriend, when I ran across this very average watch. I continued to look at other watches, but my attention kept going back to this one certain watch. I finally decided to buy it for my girlfriend, as a Christmas gift that year. It was just one of the many gifts I bought for her.

About a month or two later, after the holidays were far gone, I asked her “what was the best Christmas gift you got?”. Without little hesitation, she immediately said “the watch you bought for me” and she just happen to be wearing the watch when she said it. I said “oh really?” and then went on to explain to her, that I thought it was just a plain, old-looking watch and not much with the bells and whistles. She agreed with me and said that is probably one of the reasons why we both like it so much.

We all know that cell phones can offer you the World at your finger tips. I think everyone should own a cell phone and especially for emergency purposes. When you really break it down, telling the time is the only thing the cell phone can do, that matches the watch. A stylish watch can offer its owner so much more in other areas, that a cell phone can’t do. A watch is better suited for matching up with a specific clothing outfit, as compared to a cell phone. A watch tends to have a longer life span and in some cases, they get passed down from generation to generation. You can’t pass your cell phones down, since they are out-of-date 2 weeks after you buy them.

While cell phones are not going away anytime soon, I think the same can be said for our watches. They are much more than just a time piece on our wrists and their ability to hold value and memories, is something the cell phone can never compete with.
